Michael, a Project Engineer for a multinational company, stayed at the DBS Serviced Apartments earlier this year. He has kindly agreed to share his experience:
I’ve worked in logistics for 25 years, as a result I’m often required to work away from home in Maidenhead. I commute whenever possible but, after being contracted to work from East Midlands Airport, I found the commute difficult. It was decided that I could make use of the company travel allowance and stay in a hotel Monday-Friday.
Within 2 weeks of living within well-known hotel chains, the strain was beginning to show. I felt like I had no privacy and limited options in the evening, especially when the work I had been contracted for suffered unexpected delays. My company offered me the choice of other hotels within a set budget, but during my search I came across the DBS Apartments. Initially, I expected them to be more like shared houses, but I was soon assured that the apartments were let individually and self-contained. The price was comparable (if not cheaper) than the hotel chain I had previously stayed with.
Julie, the Accommodation Manager, showed me around the available properties. Due to the last minute booking the only available apartment at the time was a two bedroom coach house. I had no hesitation in booking it there and then.

This meant I had two bedrooms, my own kitchen and lounge area, plus it was certainly more homely. The second room also came in very useful, as my wife and children could join me on occasional weekends. It also meant I was able to bring in contractors from our Bristol offices to support my work at no additional cost.
It was useful to be able to wash & dry my clothes instead of waiting until the weekend or sourcing laundrettes. The housekeeper also visits once a week to give the place a full clean and change the towels and bedding.
When I arrived back after work, particularly after a long, hard day; it was a godsend to cook myself something (or get a takeaway). I’m now able to sit and relax on the sofa and watch TV and not have to eat in the restaurant or go out to eat every night (costing a lot more). It also means I don’t have to choose between sitting in the bar or my bedroom for the entire evening.
I would definitely recommend these apartments to other professionals travelling for business. More comfortable than a hotel stay, and the extra privacy and space were very much appreciated.
