Ashby-de-la-Zouch (shortened to Ashby) is a market town in North West Leicestershire that lies close to the Derbyshire border. The town’s population has been steadily increasing in recent decades, in thanks partly to increased funding for infrastructure and business. Ashby is located close to several well-known villages; Smisby, Packington, Oakthorpe, Measham, Moira as well as the thriving towns of Swadlincote, Burton-on-trent, Coalville, Melbourne and  Derby.

In the 1800’s Ashby’s main transport links were the Ashby canal, despite the canal never fully reaching Ashby (it ended in Moira), but in more modern times Ashby benefits from easy access to/from Leicester, Birmingham and Nottingham via the A42, A511, A453 and A50. If travelling from further afield Ashby is located close to the East Midlands and Birmingham airports, as well as great railway links.

Ashby is also a market town of historical significance, and is home to several tourist sites including Churches, the Ivanhoe baths, The Water Tower and the Loundoun Monument – as well as attractive walks, grounds and quaint eateries.

It’s not all fun and games in Ashby, during the 19th Century the main industries in Ashby were coal mining, ribbon, textile & glue manufacturing, and brickmaking. Since then Ashby has been known nationwide for being home to United biscuit and KP snacks.
