It is usually only larger businesses that are more likely to fall victim to a cyber-attack than SME’s. However, the British Chamber of Commerce has identified that all sized companies should update their security defences and remain vigilant.

A recent survey carried out by the BCC of over 1,200 UK businesses has shown that 20% of UK businesses – of all sizes and sectors – have been hit by a cyber-attack within the last 12 months.

42% of larger companies (>100 members of staff) and 18% of smaller companies (<100 members of staff) have led to a total cost of £42bn to UK investors. The Director General of the BCC highlighted the critical need for UK businesses to invest in stronger security in the wake of more aggressive and prevalent cyber-attacks. He highlighted that it’s not just the financial implications of a cyber-attack, but also the risk to the company’s confidence and reputation, through disruption to their business and productivity.

Upcoming updates for DBS…

With this in mind, and the extension of data protection regulations coming into force next year (meaning an increase in business responsibilities and requirements to protect personal data), DBS Managed Offices will be purposely closing down access to our company server in order to conduct maintenance and updates this coming weekend – 8th & 9th July 2017.

If you require information on DBS services please contact us on 01332 810 900 or Click Here.

Please be assured this will not cause disruption to any DBS clients. However, DBS staff will have no access to their email accounts during this time. Upon restarting the server, we may also experience disruption retrieving emails sent during this time.
